Similar problem here, Bob. Mine is a '97 with 2300 miles on it.
Works fine until I hit around 65 MPH. Then is starts sputter like it's out of gas, even with a full tank. It doesn't do that on prime.
I, too, would like to know where to get and old "standard" petcock. I lived with one for years, and could certainly do it again. Ah, progress...
